Bravos to school districts in Indian Lake, Johnsburg, Long Lake, Minerva, Newcomb, North Warren, Schroon Lake and Warrensburg for agreeing to explore ways to share services and save taxpayers money. From the Post Star...An old Adirondack "great camp" operated by New York state is welcoming cross-country skiers and snowshoers this winter.

Camp Santanoni in Newcomb was one of the earliest great camps built by wealthy families beginning in the late 19th century. It's now managed by state environmental officials, who are hosting three winter weekend events.

Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will have access to the historic camp properties during the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, Jan. 16-18; President's Day holiday weekend, Feb. 13-15; and the weekend of March 12-13.
